Welcome to my Resource Room!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is my pleasure to be teaching your child this year. I am excited to begin the new school year getting to know my students, setting high expectations, and helping them feel comfortable with their daily routines. I am a resource teacher, but I love to see my students in all parts of their school day. Seeing how they feel and act in both academic and non-academic settings helps me discover their strengths.
I believe that each individual has strengths. I want my students to be aware of and embrace these strengths in order to help them establish a very strong self-confidence. Once a child understands that they have certain abilities and strengths, it is more likely that they will approach challenging tasks with a positive attitude.
Please know that you are my greatest resource. I will be staying in contact with you as much as possible. I encourage you to share any concerns/questions/suggestions that you might have. Home and school are both very important places where a child learns and grows. We will need to work together in order to ensure that your child has a very enriching academic experience.
Please feel free to explore my website. You will find many great resources for both you and your child. I have posted our school-wide rules and expectations so that you have access to these and are able to review them at home. There are also many wonderful resources that will help you better understand the Common Core State Standards. As a Special Education teacher, I feel that one of my responsibilities is to share your rights as parents/guardians of a student with special needs. Please explore these resources as well.
Technology is an extremely helpful and highly motivating tool that helps us get through our daily lives. My goal is to utilize as much technology as possible throughout the day, but always with a very clear purpose for academic learning. I have posted many great websites/apps that you may find useful for you and your child at home. As we progress throughout this academic year, I will post videos and work samples of concepts taught so that you are able to see the strategies and methods that your child is learning in school. This way, you can stay involved in their academic learning without having to come to school with them! :)
I am very excited for the new school year and I know that my students will SOAR to success!
Sincerely,
Ms. Dordjevic
